How Plays Are Counted
What counts as a play, how duplicates are handled, and what's excluded.
A play is counted once per unique listener per session.
Rules
- Registered users — plays are tracked by session ID. Replaying the same track in the same session counts as one play.
- Non-registered users (share link recipients) — plays are tracked by IP address.
- Asset owners — your own plays on tracks you uploaded are not counted.
- Compare view — plays made while using the Compare feature are not counted.
Why this matters
These rules ensure that play counts reflect real listener engagement — not the owner looping their own track, and not inflated numbers from the Compare workflow.
